At the briefing inside the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier the 75 teams received their route information for the first day : Start at 8.30 am, loop Times Square, then cross the border at Niagara Falls and continue to Chateau Des Charmes. From there take the helicopters over Niagara Falls and back, and continue driving to the final destination of the day, the Ritz Carlton hotel in Cleveland, OH. On Saturday morning at 8.30 am the starting flag was waived for the second annual Playersrun. Thanks to the help of NYPD the teams were able to parade Times Square before getting lost on their way to Canada. The local crowd in Cleveland was anxious to hear the Player’s stories of the day and was waiting for the cars to arrive at the Ritz Carlton.

Sunday was a short drive - Cleveland to the Peninsula hotel in Chicago, IL. It was a very smooth and exciting start thanks to the Cleveland Police who escorted the Players out of Cleveland. The check in at the Peninsula was followed by a dinner cruise on the Odyssey Mega Yacht giving the teams the opportunity to really get to know each other.

Monday’s breakfast and briefing was held one block horizontal and two blocks vertical : On the observatory of the John Hancock Center. The fact that the drivers were actually able to see all the way to Iowa didn’t help them when they got lost trying to leave downtown Chicago. They soon would realize that carrying a map is maybe not such a bad idea on a cross country trip. Today’s final destination was the Fairmont hotel in Kansas City, MO.

Tuesday was another ‘long one’ with pit stop at the Topeka racetrack and final destination in the Mile High city Denver, CO. Kansas City Police escorted the Players out of town to make sure they will find their way to the track. After lapping Topeka Raceway the group was then on their way to Denver, Co. Checking at the Brown Palace Hotel at 7pm was followed by dinner a car show at 10pm and PARTY at Lotus nightclub at 11pm.

Wednesday will probably be one of the most memorable days in the driving history of many of the participants. Today’s destination was the hotel Jerome in Aspen with checkpoints at the Rocky Mountain National Park, Leadville ( the highest city in the US ) and Independence Pass at an elevation of 12,000 feet. Getting out of Denver was easy and very impressive thanks to an amazing Police escort by the Denver Police Department. After experiencing 1000 switchbacks of the Rocky Mountain Rollercoaster Passes in sun and snow they finally arrived in beautiful Aspen. There was enough time for stories at the pool of the Jerome before dinner was served at the world famous Caribou Club.

Vegas Baby ! Thursdays drive began with a Police escort out of Aspen to Woody Creek Raceway for a couple high altitude (and attitude) laps. Some participants chose to leave early in order to make it quicker to the High Stakes Poker tables. Eventually all the high rollers made it to The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. Unfortunately Rich’s Saleen S7 broke down just after he received the order to go pedal to medal by the Nevada Police and he had to play passenger in the Lamborghini Gallardo of his wife.

Friday started late since obviously noon was able to pick up their route cards before noon. So it was noon when the crowd gathered at Shelby cars in Las Vegas for much appreciated brunch and route cards. 4 hours later everyone arrived at the finish line in Hollywood ,CA just in time to get ready for the awards and the final party at Bliss, LA’s hottest restaurant and nightclub.

Saturday was then spent relaxing on beautiful Catalina Island. After more than 7 days, 3500 miles and countless adventures the second annual Playersrun had come to an end at the Descenado Beach Club and plans were already made for next years Playersrun.
