Crowds watched in awe as more than 50 exotic cars were waived off the starting grid at the Fairmont Hotel Seattle, on time, on an (almost sunny!) Saturday morning. The Seattle Police Department closed all intersections allowing for a smooth start of the 2005 Playersrun. The teams followed the freeway to Portland, OR, and then took some of the most amazing passes in the US all the way to Crater Lake, OR, the Pit stop of day 1. From here it was only a short trip to the destination of the day, the Ashland Springs Hotel, Ashland, OR.

Participants drove 200 miles of mountain roads and Redwood Forest followed by the California coast line – what a day it was. A couple of teams in Italian exotics got stuck (literally) in today’s Pit stop, a drive - through tree in the Redwood Forest. It simply was too narrow for them…The destination of the day was the magnificent Fairmont Hotel San Francisco. While the cars were displayed on the closed street, the teams gathered in the private Penthouse for dinner and party.

San Francisco – Los Angeles, Highway 1…need we say more! Actually we do: The teams received an incredible sightseeing tour (including Lombard Street) thanks to a Police Escort from the San Francisco Police Department. Pit stop of the day was the Hearst Castle. The destination of the day was the Mondrian Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA. After dinner at the acclaimed Asia Di Cuba the teams partied at the Skybar.

How do you ‘commute’ on a Tuesday morning at 9am from the Mondrian Hotel, LA to the California Speedway…Playersrun style? You close Sunset Boulevard as well as 55 miles of freeway and go ‘pedal to metal’ on your ‘private’ freeways…with the help of the Los Angeles Police Department. Thanks to the LAPD everyone made it safe, in time, and with some incredible memories to the racetrack. After a quick lunch the teams were let loose on the track. The destination of the day was the hip and brand-new Solamar Hotel in San Diego.

The last day proved to be a difficult one for some of the teams. A tight schedule and some heavy traffic on the freeways called for action. In order to make it in time to the Pit stop (Helicopter Pad Las Vegas) some teams had to call in helicopters to get picked up and flown into Las Vegas. Eventually everyone made it to the Helicopter Pad for an amazing ride over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and Las Vegas. The finish line at the Bellagio Casino and Resort was crossed in the early evening, just in time to get ready for the black tie finale. What happened at the black tie event and at the after party at Lure in the Wynn will forever stay in Vegas!
